THE 21ST VINTAGE OF LONG HAUL
Winemaking Notes - The 2019 Long Haul is composed primarily of merlot from Quintessence Vineyard on Red Mountain combined with merlot from Red Willow Vineyard in the Yakima Valley. Quintessence is a relative newcomer to the Washington vineyard scene, with much of the vineyard planted within the last 10 years. Through exceptional vineyard management and site selection, this vineyard produces world-class fruit with intense dark aromas and flavors and incredible power across the palate. 70 miles to the west, Red Willow vines have an average age of 25 years and are planted on ancient soils above the deposition of the Missoula floods. Red Willow merlot offers a savory aromatic profile with complex depth and intensity on the palate.
Tasting Notes - Our 2019 Long Haul gives perfumed aromatics mingled with dark fruits, plum, and mulberry on the nose. The palate has black cherry and blackberry notes with integrated oak characteristics and baking spices. Smooth, supple tannins complement balanced acidity. This full-bodied blend has a lengthy finish, it’s inviting now and will cellar for many years.
